Orthocumulate definition

Orthocumulate means a rock which exhibits a high proportion of crystallised trapped interstitial (“intercumulus”) liquid. The surrounded (“cumulus”) olivine crystals are subhedral to enhedral in form. This komatiite type is regarded as very prospective for nickel sulphide mineralisation (e.g. Kambalda nickel mine).
