Open Flying definition

Open Flying means trips and portions of trips which, after the schedule selection process, remain unassigned or become unassigned due to any pilot absence.
Open Flying means all flying not included in bid runs. Bid run flights vacated due to Flight Attendant's scheduled adjustment, illness, vacations, leaves of absence, extra sections, or other Company approved absences will become open flying.
Open Flying or “UNASSIGNED FLYING” means unassigned flight time, except as otherwise provided herein.

Examples of Open Flying in a sentence

  • Cabin Personnel will be permitted to bid open flying departing from their Mirabel or Dorval Airport subject only to the provisions of Article B7 - Open Flying.

  • Any Credits that cannot be built into the Pilot’s Blocks or becomes available throughout the Bid Period shall be designated as Open Flying.

  • For example: If a flight in Open Flying departs on a Friday, it will be staffed on the Monday preceding the flight.

  • In months where training and/or Competency Checks are planned, the Company may utilize Open Flying for the specific purpose of scheduling such training.

  • The mandatory assignment of any duty to a CCM that is not on his awarded Block and excludes reassignment, Reserve Duty call out and Open Flying or Available Flying.
