Open and Distance Learning definition

Open and Distance Learning mode means a mode of providing flexible learning opportunities by overcoming separation of teacher and learner using a variety of media, including print, electronic, online and occasional interactive face-to-face meetings with the presence of an Higher Educational Institution or Learner Support Services to deliver teaching-learning experiences, including practical or work experiences.
Open and Distance Learning means any form of flexible education, whether or not involving the use of information and communication technologies;
Open and Distance Learning means learning by using a combination of methods and media, including broadcasting, telecasting, narrowcasting, web, computer-based learning, e-learning, virtual learning, print, seminars and direct interaction and providing flexibility to learners to exercise choice in terms of pace, place and mode of study;

  • Accordingly, if any State/ Central/ Private University approaches the Council for offering Technical Courses in Open and Distance Learning mode, their application shall be processed as per the norms and procedure specified in this Chapter and the All India Council for Technical Education (Open and Distance Learning Education) Guidelines for Institutions Deemed to be Universities, 2019 and the decision of the Council shall forward to the UGC.

  • Note: A candidate shall register for only ONE Course in Open and Distance Learning mode in any Learner Support Centre at a time and shall not be permitted to register for another Course until he/ she successfully completes the Course requirement/ discontinue the Course officially.
