On condition basis maintenance means that regular maintenance checks should be performed in order to detect the onset of mechanical component failure. The TBO maintenance regime involves removal of items from service after a certain length of service, as specified by the manufacturer, for overhaul or replacement indifferent of the items current performance condition.
