Non-Routine Medical Care definition

Non-Routine Medical Care means treatment for any medical or dental condition which requires hospitalization, emergency response, or specialization that cannot be performed or provided by the CCF physician or licensed nurses on-site and which is not otherwise provided by Contractor's off-site medical and dental providers pursuant to the medical and dental plan agreements between Contractor and its contracted medical and dental provider(s). Examples of Non-Routine Medical Care include surgery, neurological care, trauma, cardiac care, burns, rape/sodomy cases, cancer treatment, “active” HIV/AIDS, and any care that requires emergency or ambulance services.

Examples of Non-Routine Medical Care in a sentence

  • In the event the DSH directs Contractor to provide Non-Routine Medical Care, the DSH shall either direct Contractor to instruct the facility providing care to invoice the committing county, or to invoice the DSH directly for the full cost of care provided by submitting the invoice to the attention of the DSH Contract Manager.

  • For such patients, the DSH further reserves the right to either admit them to a state hospital for treatment or require Contractor to provide Non-Routine Medical Care.

  • Non-formulary prescription medications shall not be provided to male Patient Inmates except in conjunction with Non-Routine Medical Care.

  • Non-Routine Medical Care is defined as major medical operations or surgeries (such as heart transplants), continuation of experimental medication, services that cannot be provided onsite at the Jail, dialysis services, whether onsite or otherwise, and emergency medical care.

  • San Bernardino County shall seek DSH pre-approval for all Non-Routine Medical Care.

  • For all Routine and Non-Routine Medical Care, San Bernardino County shall be responsible for security.

  • If a Patient Inmate requires Non-Routine Medical Care, Contractor shall notify the DSH Contract Manager or designee immediately in writing and by phone for pre-approval.

  • Should the DSH elect to require COUNTY’s CONTRACTOR to provide the Non-Routine Medical Care, CONTRACTOR shall ensure that the male Patient Inmate is provided care at a facility designated by the DSH Contract Manager, in accordance with the preferences of the committing county.

  • For such patients, the DSH further reserves the right to either admit them to a state hospital for treatment or require COUNTY and CONTRACTOR to provide Non-Routine Medical Care.

  • In the event a Patient Inmate requires Non-Routine Medical Care, Contractor shall instruct the facility providing care to invoice the Contractor directly for the full cost of care provided, which shall be offset by the Patient Inmate’s Medicare or private health insurance plan when applicable, and then reimbursed by DSH.

  • Emergency medical care means such medical procedures as:

  • Pharmacy care means medications prescribed by a licensed physician and any health-related services considered medically necessary to determine the need or effectiveness of the medications.

  • Urgent Care means treatment for a condition that is not a threat to life or limb but does require prompt medical attention. Also, the severity of an urgent condition does not necessitate a trip to the hospital emergency room. An Urgent Care facility is a freestanding facility that is not a physician’s office and which provides Urgent Care.

  • Routine care means medical care which is not urgent or emergent in nature and can wait for a regularly scheduled physician appointment without risk of permanent damage to the patient’s life or health status. The condition requiring routine care is not likely to substantially worsen without immediate clinical intervention.
