MSY definition

MSY. (Maximum Sustainable Yield) means the largest average catch or yield that can continuously be taken from a stock under prevailing environmental conditions. For wild salmon stocks, MSY and status of individual wild salmon stock is evaluated based on current smolt production in relation to the potential smolt production capacity.
MSY means the highest theoretical equilibrium yield that can be continuously taken on average from a stock under existing average environmental conditions without significantly affecting the reproduction process.
