Military Leaves definition

Military Leaves. Military leaves of absence shall be granted for teachers who are inducted or enlist for one (1) period of enlistment for military duty in any branch of the armed forces of the United States. Teachers on military leave shall be given the benefit of any salary increments which would have been credited to them had they remained in active service in the School District, and shall be reinstated upon completion of such service in accordance with Act 145, Public Acts of 1943, and with sick leave held at the start of the leave.

Examples of Military Leaves in a sentence

  • Leaves for Service in the Military Leaves for service in the U.S. Armed Services or any of its reserve components and the National Guard, as well as re-employment rights, will be granted in accordance with State and federal law.

  • Employees who are separated from the service by discharge under other than honorable conditions, bad conduct, or dishonorable discharge, shall not be entitled to any of the benefits of Section 3 through Section 9 of this Article (relating to Military Leaves Without Pay) except such vested rights as they may have acquired thereto by virtue of payments into their retirement accounts.

  • Employees who are separated from the service by discharge under other than honorable conditions, bad conduct, or dishonorable discharge, shall not be entitled to any of the benefits of Paragraph 3 through Paragraph 9 of this Recommendation (relating to Military Leaves Without Pay) except such vested rights as they may have acquired thereto by virtue of payments into their retirement accounts.

  • Short-Term Military Leaves for active duty will be granted during the college year only when satisfactory documentation is provided to show that the military requirements cannot be satisfied during vacation periods.

  • For all Family Military Leaves, employees should provide their supervisor with a copy of the written orders.

  • Long-Term Military Leaves Military leaves of absence without salary or benefits shall be granted to any L'Anse Creuse teacher who shall be inducted for a tour of military duty to any branch of the armed forces of the United States.

  • Where practicable, applications for Military Leaves under paragraph F.1. above, or extensions thereof shall be submitted at least ninety (90) calendars days before the beginning of the semester the leave, or extension thereof, is desired to commence.

  • Military Leaves for a unit member who has a minimum of one (1) year of prior service with the District and who is on temporary Military Leave shall receive his/her full salary for the first thirty (30) days of such leave.

  • Only Military Leaves and unpaid leaves of ninety (90) calendar days or less are credited as continuous service for vacation eligibility purposes, but vacation days are not accrued during such leaves.

  • Military Leaves of Absence and Restoration of Position - A full time employee who is a member of the reserve component of any branch of the Armed Forces and who is either ordered to active duty or is required to attend annual training tours of duty is entitled to the benefits pursuant to applicable state and federal laws as amended from time to time.

  • Military Leave means leave subject to reemployment rights under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994, as amended from time to time.

The term military munitions includes: confined gaseous, liquid, and solid propellants, explosives, pyrotechnics, chemical and riot control agents, smokes, and incendiaries used by DOD components, including bulk explosives and chemical warfare agents, chemical munitions, rockets, guided and ballistic missiles, bombs, warheads, mortar rounds, artillery ammunition, small arms ammunition, grenades, mines, torpedoes, depth charges, cluster munitions and dispensers, demolition charges, and devices and components thereof. Military munitions do not include wholly inert items, improvised explosive devices, and nuclear weapons, nuclear devices, and nuclear components thereof. However, the term does include non-nuclear components of nuclear devices, managed under DOE's nuclear weapons program after all required sanitization operations under the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, have been completed.

  • Military equipment means weapons, arms, military supplies, and equipment that readily may be used for military purposes, including, but not limited to, radar systems or military-grade transport vehicles; or supplies or services sold or provided directly or indirectly to any force actively participating in armed conflict in Sudan.

  • Military spouse means a person who is married to a military service member.

  • FMLA Leave means a leave of absence, which the Company is required to extend to an Employee under the provisions of the FMLA.

  • maternity leave means a period during which a woman is absent from work because she is pregnant or has given birth to a child, and at the end of which she has a right to return to work either under the terms of her contract of employment or under Part 8 of the Employment Rights Act 1996;

  • Qualified Military Service means any service in the uniformed services (as defined in chapter 43 of title 38, United States Code) by any individual if such individual is entitled to reemployment rights under such chapter with respect to such service and to the Employer.

  • Bereavement Leave means "a leave of absence granted to an employee upon a death occurring in the employee's Immediate Family.”

  • Medical leave means leave of up to a total of 12 workweeks in a 12-month period because of an employee’s own serious health condition that makes the employee unable to work at all or unable to perform any one or more of the essential functions of the position of that employee. The term “essential functions” is defined in Government Code section 12926. “Medical leave” does not include leave taken for an employee’s pregnancy disability, as defined in (n) below, except as specified below in section 11093(c)(1).

  • Medically Necessary Leave of Absence means any change in enrollment at the post-secondary school that begins while the child is suffering from a serious illness or injury, is medically necessary, and causes the child to lose student status for purposes of coverage under the Plan.

  • Approved Leave of Absence means a leave of absence that has been approved by the applicable Participating Company in such a manner as the Board may determine from time to time.

  • maternity or paternity leave of absence means, for Plan Years beginning after December 31, 1984, an absence from work for any period by reason of the Employee's pregnancy, birth of the Employee's child, placement of a child with the Employee in connection with the adoption of such child, or any absence for the purpose of caring for such child for a period immediately following such birth or placement. For this purpose, Hours of Service shall be credited for the computation period in which the absence from work begins, only if credit therefore is necessary to prevent the Employee from incurring a 1-Year Break in Service, or, in any other case, in the immediately following computation period. The Hours of Service credited for a "maternity or paternity leave of absence" shall be those which would normally have been credited but for such absence, or, in any case in which the Administrator is unable to determine such hours normally credited, eight (8) Hours of Service per day. The total Hours of Service required to be credited for a "maternity or paternity leave of absence" shall not exceed 501.

  • Parental leave means leave to bond and to care for a newborn child after birth or to bond and care for a child after placement for adoption or xxxxxx care, for a period of up to sixteen (16) weeks after the birth or placement.

  • Leave of absence with pay means to be absent from duty with permission and with pay.

  • Sick Leave means the period of time an employee is absent from work with or without pay, by virtue of sickness, quarantine, or accident, or out-of-town medical/dental referrals for which compensation is not payable under the Worker's Compensation Act.
