Man Yee means intelligence and righteousness. Man Yee was known to be an intelligent child in Hong Kong. When she came to the USA, she already “knew multiplication tables up to nine-times-nine, wrote one hundred Chinese characters, and spoke five words in English—cap, ball, hello, yes, no” (21).
