Main Dentist definition

Main Dentist means a provider who has agreed with a Dental Contractor to provide a Main Dental Home to Dental Members and who is responsible for providing routine preventive, diagnostic, urgent, therapeutic, initial, and primary care to Dental Members, maintaining the continuity of Dental Member care, and initiating referral for care. Provider types that can serve as Main Dental Home Providers are FQHCs, RHCs, and individuals who are general dentists or pediatric dentists.

Examples of Main Dentist in a sentence

  • The office telephone is transferred after normal business hours to another location where someone will answer the telephone and be able to contact the Main Dentist or another dental Provider, who can return the call within four hours.

  • Normal business hours are at the discretion of each individual Main Dentist.

  • If the Member has not selected a Main Dentist within 30 calendar days of enrollment, the Dental Contractor must assign the Member to a Main Dentist.
