Main axis definition

Main axis of an element means an axis of elon- gation and/or symmetry of an element. For example main axes of a rectangle or square are oriented in the direc- tions of the sides of the rectangle or square and coincide with its symmetry axis. The main axis of a beam is along the elongated direction of the beam.
