To qualify for placement on the MA+15 salary schedule, an Employee must present evidence of having completed with a passing grade at least 15 semester hours (22-1/2 term hours) of graduate work after having earned a Master’s degree.
Effective July 1, 2017, the maximum number of steps on the salary schedule will be as follows: BA is step 9; BA+15 is step 12; BA+30 is step 17; MA is step 20; MA+15 is step 20; MA+30 is step 20.
The MA+15, MA+30, and MA+45 columns refer to semester hours of training.
Additional hours to be counted for BA+15, MA+15, and MA+30 must be college hours earned after the date on which the designated degree was awarded.
For a unit member to qualify for the MA+15 column, the MA+30 column, or the MA+45 column, the hours must be graduate level hours earned after the Master’s Degree is conferred.
Certified Staff in the MA, MA+15 and MA+30 columns on the salary schedule that are moving off the schedule for the first time will receive a 1.75%, 2.00% and 2.00% increase for FY16, FY17 and FY18 respectively over their prior year's base salary.
All teachers qualifying for placement on the MA+15 schedule per the 1997-2001 contract requirements prior to January 1, 2002 shall be placed and remain on this schedule as long as they remain continuously employed by the Vicksburg Community Schools.
Teachers who complete the requirements for moving to the MA+15 schedule under the 1997-2001 contract after January 1, 2002 but prior to the start of the 2002-03 school year may qualify for the MA+15 schedule without completing the Vicksburg Community Schools Professional Development Program as defined above as long as they complete at least one of the three required programs prior to the 2002-03 school year and complete all three within the following two years.
Teachers who were represented by the Association prior to January 1, 2013 and who had a break in service on or after that date and any teacher who initially was represented by the Association on or after January 1, 2013 may qualify only for MA+15 not leading to a second Master’s degree, an Ed.S degree, an Ed.D degree, or a Ph.D degree.
A required 48-hour program is recognized as MA+15 on the salary schedule.
