Listening definition

Listening. In Keywords in Sound, edited by David Novak and Matt Sakakeeny, 99–111. Durham: Duke University Press. Road Bureau (MLIT). 2015. “2015. Roads in Japan.” Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). http://www.mlit.go.jp/road/road_e/pdf/ROAD2015web.pdf.
Listening in this dissertation means being culturally sensitive to the religious, political, and economic context of the Mediterranean world. Charles H. Cosgrove, in Cross–Cultural Paul, puts it well when he argues that “understanding a cultural perspective different from one’s own through active listening and engagement is a survival skill for many minorities in relation to the dominant culture. It ought to be a cultural virtue for all of us. Each of us ought to work seriously at seeing the world from at least one cultural perspective not our own. Moreover, listening affects us more powerfully when we do it through active engagement with another cultural perspective in an effort to put into our words what Paul looks like through the lens of that other perspective,” 5.
Listening means the ability to process, understand, interpret and evaluate spoken language in a variety of situations.

Listening means to listen to what customers need. AI Customer Service 2.0 has been newly launched, listening to customers' voices 24h × 7d. Every day, about one million customers use the AI Customer Service for problem consultation. 80% of the consultations do not require manual intervention, leaving more time for senior customer service executives to respond to complex inquiries for customers. The Group of Confidants is composed of experienced psychologists, customer service experts, product experts, etc. The Heart group launched the "Voice of customers is foolproof" action, inviting the head office executives to answer customer questions, and continuously enhance the product service experience.
Listening means to use customer data from search portals, web-based-advisors, CRM-systems, patent-databases, literature, trade journals or product catalogues to identify customers’ needs. Herewith, customers are a passive part of observation and can be analysed by techniques from the field of classical desk research as well as web-monitoring-techniques. Surely, “listening” can be located within the closed in- novation approach.
