Legal advocacy means personal support and assis- tance with victims of domestic violence to ensure their inter- ests are represented and their rights upheld within the civil and criminal justice systems, including administrative hear- ings. It includes educating and assisting victims in navigat- ing the justice systems; assisting victims in evaluating advan- tages and disadvantages of participating in the legal pro- cesses; facilitating victims' access and participation in the legal systems; and promoting victims' choices and rights to individuals within the legal systems.
