Layoff Status definition

Layoff Status means the status of an Employee during the period of time when he is laid off and ceases active work due to curtailment or reduction in force and ends upon his return to work or, if earlier, one year from the date of layoff.

Examples of Layoff Status in a sentence

  • An employee who has bumped to a new position and who voluntarily requests within a thirty (30) day probationary period to retreat to a Layoff Status or who fails to satisfactorily complete a thirty (30) day probationary period as determined by the superintendent shall be returned to a Layoff Status.

  • Layoff Status employees will be given the first opportunity to fill open positions in the County for which they qualify.

  • Employees electing severance pay terminate their employment with the Hospital and are not eligible for the Recall from Layoff Status (6.9).

  • Conclusion or Termination of an Officer's Layoff Status Officers on layoff status who voluntarily terminate their layoff status, or else fail to respond or return to work when recalled, shall be dismissed.

  • A Registered Nurse who is impacted by a RIF (Layoff) is considered to be in Layoff Status when the Registered Nurse has been involuntary changed to unpaid status for more than fourteen (14) consecutive days that the Registered Nurse otherwise would have worked.

  • A list of Registered Nurses on Layoff Status shall be made available to the Union on request.

  • Twelve (12) consecutive months of layoff status shall constitute a break in service, provided, however, that if the employee is placed on the per diem list pursuant to Paragraph 79a Employees on Layoff Status Placed on Per Diem List, and works at least four hundred (400) hours during the twelve (12) month period following the initial date of layoff, a break in service shall not occur until after twenty-four (24) consecutive months of layoff status.
