A Lateral Entry Applicant shall have served in one or more positions where he or she had the authority to enforce laws, investigate crimes, make arrests, respond to calls for service, carry a firearm, and use discretion as part of the Lateral Entry Applicant’s assigned duties.
A Lateral Entry Applicant who successfully completes the training requirements as established by the Chief will be placed in the civil service classification of police officer regardless of any rank or position the Lateral Entry Applicant previously held at any other law enforcement agency.
