Keypunching means recording information in cards, paper tapes, or magnetic tapes, discs, or drums by punching holes in the cards, paper tapes or inserting magnetic bits on magnetic tape, discs, or drums, to represent letters, digits, and special characters. Keypunching includes the necessary preliminary encoding or marking of the source documents.
