Internship/Practicum means a course of planned and supervised training that allows the application of theory to actual practice and prepares a student for working independently in a specific career. The internship/practicum generally occurs after the student has completed 12 credit hours. It takes place at a regular worksite and instruction/supervision is shared by a college instructor/supervisor and a qualified employee at the worksite. Clinical practicums take place in a hospital or other medical/health facility and require close supervision/instruction/monitoring by a qualified college instructor.

  • Training Site will designate in writing administrators/preceptors, if any, to be responsible for the internship/practicum educational program, and will designate in writing one person as the Internship/Practicum Education Supervisor for students during internships.

  • The counseling Internship/Practicum requires 20-25 hours per week at this site for students enrolled in Internship and 10-12 hours per week for students enrolled in practicum.

  • The Internship/Practicum site agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Practicum/Internship Instructors, administrators, and Board of Regents for any claims or lawsuits brought against Practicum/Internship Instructors, University Administrators, and the Board of Regents for negligence by the placement site or its employees.
