Intake rate definition

Intake rate or "IR" means rate of ingestion, inhalation, or dermal contact, depending on the route of exposure, expressed as the amount of a media taken in, on a per body weight and daily basis, for a specified duration.

Examples of Intake rate in a sentence

  • Intake rate increases quickly at small bite sizes, but at larger bite sizes the decrease in bite rate and the increase of food loss start to balance the effect of increasing bite size, and intake rate levels off or even declines.
