Initial flowback definition

Initial flowback means the period during completion operations that begins with the onset of flowback and concludes when it is technically feasible for a separator to function.

Examples of Initial flowback in a sentence

  • Initial flowback stage means the period during a well completion operation which begins at the onset of flowback and ends at the separation flowback stage.

  • Initial flowback consists largely of the components of the injected fracking fluid (which may contain substances harmful to human health and the environment), but as gas and oil production rates decline, flowback generally consists of produced water, which may be highly saline and contain heavy metals, BTEX compounds, Naturally Occuring Radioactive Material (NORM) and other potentially harmful substances naturally occurring in the shale, depending on the specific geology.

  • EPA does not define the term “recovered liquids,” but has clarified that it meant the term to cover “condensate, crude oil and produced water recovered through the separation process.” Id. Initial flowback of such liquids can be “routed to temporary ‘fracture tanks’” or more permanent storage vessels.

  • Initial flowback stage: Route to a storage vessel or completion vessel (frac tank, lined pit, or other vessel) and separator.

  • Initial flowback consists largely of the components of the injected fracking fluid (which may include substances harmful to human health and the environment), but as gas and oil production rates decline, flowback generally consists of produced water, which is likely to be highly saline and contain heavy metals, BTEX compounds, Naturally Occuring Radioactive Material (NORM) and other substances, depending on the specific geology.

  • Initial flow-back of the fracture fluids created a visible white plume in the atmosphere.

  • Initial flowback from Valhalla North-1has seen strong flows of gas and condensate while fluid flow to surface from Asgard-1 has included significant amounts of gas.

  • Initial flowback – Once hydraulic fracturing has been completed, some of the fluid injected flows back up the well, although 20–85% remains in the formation.

  • The language was amended to identify two distinct stages associated with well completion: 1) Initial flowback and2) Separation flowback.

  • Initial flowback gas rates are encouraging, as the well has reported a 40.7 MMcfe/d peak 24-hour IP rate, which represents the best peak 24-hour rate drilled in the field to-date.
