The Informal Process provides an Employee with the opportunity to resolve his or her concern by using the open door process, with the assistance of a FC member, within 30 calendar days of the date the Employee became aware of the issue.
If an Employee is unable to get his concern resolved through the Informal Process, he may request a Formal Hearing by filing an Issue Resolution Form within three (3) business days following completion of the Informal Process.
The FC process has 2 phases: The Informal Process and the Formal Process.
The Formal Process occurs as a result of either a failure of the Informal Process to eliminate a problem, or as an immediate response to a serious problem that could not have been dealt with informally.
The underlying goal of the Informal Process is to prevent problems from developing and to quickly eliminate problems that do arise.
Admonition means a disposition in the form of a warning or reprimand in writing, administered by the Divisional Commander or designate and applied to the involved member being disciplined by the Informal Process.

Step 1 (Informal Process) In the event that a teacher believes there is a basis for a grievance, the teacher shall first discuss the alleged grievance with the teacher’s building principal(s) or immediate supervisor(s) within twenty (20) working days after the cause of grievance arises.
Informal Process: For location or department-specific complaints, every effort shall be exhausted to resolve the complaint between the employee, and the unit member’s immediate supervisor and/or designated representative, if applicable.
If an agreement is not reached in the Informal Process in 28.2, the grievance shall be reduced to writing within three (3) business days following the date of the informal meeting with the immediate supervisor.
