Inert particulate definition

Inert particulate means an aerosol which does not produce significant organic disease or toxic effect in a lung-tissue reaction from any of the following:

  • Particulate Matter (PM) means any airborne finely divided material, except uncombined water, which exists as a solid or liquid at standard conditions (e.g., dust, smoke, mist, fumes or smog).

  • Particulate matter emissions (PM) means the mass of any particulate material from the vehicle exhaust quantified according to the dilution, sampling and measurement methods as specified in this UN GTR.
