ICD code definition

ICD code means an International Classification of Diseases code, a set of numbers or letters or a combination of letters and numbers that specify a disease, condition, or injury; the location of the disease, condition, or injury; or the circumstances under which a patient may have incurred the disease, condition or injury, which is used by a health care institution for billing purposes.
ICD code means a number assigned to a particular kind of injury or disease in the tenth edition of the International Classification of Diseases 9th Revision, effective date of 1 October 1993, copyrighted by the US Commission on Professional and Hospital Activities, and having the Library of Congress number 77-94472;
ICD code means an international classification of diseases diagnosis, which includes codes for traumatic and other acquired brain injuries and has been documented in writing by a duly licensed medical professional or psychologist for the purpose of assisting an individual with brain injury to qualify for the BISF program. Current ICD codes may be accepted from medical doctors (MDs), osteopathic doctors (DOs), certified nurse practitioners (CNPs), physician assistants (PAs), and Ph.D. psychologists.
