Hyper-awareness definition

Hyper-awareness of an issue means that people who may have not had any direct experience of a crop-raiding may be still be more aware of the issue from talking to others and more likely to inflate the extent of the problem from common ‘fear’ (Treves et al., 2009). This is not a limitation if the researcher is looking at perceptions alone as arguable every data point is valid but, if inferences on the real world are to be made hyper-awareness must be considered.
