Hover-In-Ground-Effect (HIGE) definition
Hover-In-Ground-Effect (HIGE) means operating at such an altitude (usually one-half the rotor diameter above the surface) that the influence of ground effect is realized. “Hover-Out-of-Ground-Effect (H▇▇▇)” means hovering without the benefit of the ground effect cushion. For any given altitude, hovering out of ground effect takes more power than hovering in ground effect.
