hazardous substances(s). For the purposes of this Agreement, the termhazardous substances” means: 15.6.1.1 Any substance the presence of which requires the investigation or remediation under any federal, state or local statute, regulation, rule, ordinance, order, action, policy or common law; or 15.6.1.2 Any substance which is or becomes defined as a hazardous waste, extremely hazardous waste, hazardous material, hazardous substance, hazardous chemical, toxic chemical, toxic substance, cancer causing substance, substance that causes reproductive harm, pollutant or contaminant under any federal, state or local statute, regulation, rule or ordinance or amendments thereto, including, without limitation, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (42 U.S.C. Section 9601 et seq.) and/or the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (42 U.S.C. Section 6901 et seq.); or 15.6.1.3 Any substance which is toxic, explosive, corrosive, flammable, infectious, radioactive, carcinogenic, mutagenic, or otherwise hazardous and is or becomes regulated by any governmental authority, agency, department, commission, council, board, or instrumentality of the United States, the State of California, the City of Los Angeles, or any political subdivision of any of them; or 15.6.1.4 Any substance the presence of which on the Airport causes or threatens to cause a nuisance upon the Airport or to adjacent properties or poses or threatens to pose a hazard to the health or safety of persons on or about the Airport; or 15.6.1.5 Any substance the presence of which on adjacent properties could constitute a trespass by Contractor; or 15.6.1.6 Any substance, without limitation, which contains gasoline, aviation fuel, jet fuel, diesel fuel or other petroleum hydrocarbons, lubricating oils, solvents, polychlorinated bipheynols (PCBs) asbestos, urea formaldehyde or radon gases.
hazardous substances(s) means any hazardous, toxic and radioactive materials and those substances defined as “hazardous substances,” “hazardous materials,” “hazardous wastes,” “toxic substances,” or other similar designations in any federal, state, or local law, regulation, or ordinance, including without limitation asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB), or petroleum, and any substances, materials or wastes regulated in 40 CFR, Part 261 and defined as hazardous in 40 CFR S 261.3. In addition to notifying City of any hazardous substances(s) discovered or encountered, Contractor shall immediately cease working in any particular area of the project where a hazardous substance has been discovered or encountered if continued work in such area would present a risk or danger to the health or well-being of Contractor’s or any subcontractor’s work force.
