Harmonized definition

Harmonized means that teachers are paid according to coherent payroll regulations. “Regularized” means that they are paid with fixed periodicity and through an established and effective mechanism.
Harmonized means that researchers have: (1) used weighting methodologies to account for census tract boundary changes over time, and (2) addressed any changes in the way a particular Census question was asked to make the responses comparable over time.
Harmonized means interoperable, with a common data language and open data standards. Lack of standardization causes myriad complexities and difficulties, where inconsistencies in formats and access to data lead to inefficiencies and unnecessary friction, including massive amounts of paperwork, resources, and delays. The world experienced this in real time during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many everyday products suddenly became unavailable and supply chains experienced massive bottlenecks.
