Handcuffing definition

Handcuffing means the use of metal handcuffs, plastic ties, or other similar-type restraints, used to limit an aggressor’s freedom of movement, prevent attack and/or to effectively bring the situation under control pending a response from local police agencies.

Examples of Handcuffing in a sentence

  • Handcuffing without physical resistance does not require an RTR report but shall be documented in an incident report.

  • Handcuffing suspects The trainee shall be able to safely and effectively handcuff single or multiple suspects and, if necessary, transport single or multiple suspects away from an arrest scene.

  • Reasonable Modification of Handcuffing Policies.The UDOC will ensure that when inmates who have hearing disabilities are cuffed or restrained, they are cuffed or restrained in a manner that permits effective communication (e.g., cuffing inmates in the front so they can sign; having one hand free in order to write) unless legitimate safety concerns dictate otherwise.
