Extended Sick Leave with Half Pay does not accumulate from year to year.
Entitlement to Extended Sick Leave with Half Pay shall not commence until the fourth (4th) consecutive full day of any absence on account of personal illness or injury except for pregnancy disability prescribed by the treating physician and for continuing illness or injury.
Extended Sick Leave with Half Pay shall be used for personal illness or injury only.
In addition to Personal Illness/Injury Leave provided under Section A.1. above, each employee shall be credited, at the beginning of each fiscal year, with the number of days of Extended Sick Leave with Half Pay which, when added to his/her Sick Leave entitlement for the year under A.1. above, total one hundred (100) days.
This benefit can only be used once every twelve (12) months no matter how short the duration of One Half Pay is used.
The onset, duration, and nature of any illness or injury for which Extended Sick Leave with Half Pay is claimed must be verified, in writing, by the treating physician.
Half Pay Defined - For the purpose of this paragraph, half pay shall mean four (4) hours' pay at the employee's regular classification rate for those days which the employee would have worked had the disability not occurred, calculated at straight time.
Based upon years of service to the City School District, employees will have the following allowances of Extended Sick Leave at One Half Pay for each of the service time periods indicated: One full year but less than three years – 30 working days; Three full years but less than six years – 60 working days; Six full years or more – 90 working days.
