Government check definition

Government check means a check issued by this state, a state agency of this state, a political subdivision of this state, or the United States, including, but not limited to, checks issued by the internal revenue service and the pension benefit guaranty corporation.
Government check means a U.S. federal, state, or local government payroll, expense ▇▇▇▇- bursement, tax refund or benefit / assistance (i.e., Social Security, disability, child support) check. “PayDay Loan” (also called a Deferred Deposit Loan, Deferred Presentment Loan, Small Loan or Short Term Loan) means a transaction for which a merchant makes a cash advance to a consumer and, for a fee, finance charge or other consideration: (i) accepts a check (sometimes post-dated) from the consumer; (ii) agrees to hold the check for a period of time prior to negotiation, deposit or presentment of the check for payment; and (iii) advances to the consumer, credits the consumer’s account, or pays to another person or entity on the consumer’s behalf, the amount of the check, less any fee, finance charge or other consider- ation. “Payor” means a company or governmental agency that issues a Company Check or Government Check made payable to a Check Cashing Consumer. “Personal Check” means a personal check made payable to the Subscriber which debits against the Check Cashing Consumer’s own demand deposit account.
