Forest Management Zoning definition

Forest Management Zoning means the land classification system used by Forests NSW for the management of State Forests and includes special management zones.
Forest Management Zoning or “FMZ” is a land classification system, which identifies management intent across State forest. The system is described in the document Forest Management Zoning in State Forests, SFNSW 1999;
Forest Management Zoning or “FMZ” is a land classification system which identifies sets out, in map format, management intent across State forest. It is based on the “Components of the CAR System” in the ▇▇▇▇▇ Report, to clearly differentiate between those areas of State forest which are specifically set aside for conservation purposes (and utilising statutory protection in some cases) and those areas which are available for timber harvesting and other activities. Examples of Forest Management Zoning in a sentence

  • Integrated Forestry Operations Approvals, Forest Management Zoning, and Management Plans.

  • Within the General Management Zone of the Forest Management Zoning system (FMZ 4), Forestry Operations and other activities are permitted.

  • Working plans will be incorporated into the Regional ESFM* Plans.‌‌ The FMZs* must be managed in accordance with ‘Managing our forests sustainably: Forest Management Zoning in NSW State Forests’, SFNSW* Operational Circular 99/10’ and, in the case of those FMZs* which are part of a CAR reserve system* (including dedicated, informal and prescription) and/or are equated with IUCN reserve category*, must be managed in accordance with the requirements for such reserves.
