DHIS2 In January 2018, the FMOH decided to change the country’s routine data collection platform to DHIS2 to accommodate evolving information needs.

The team conducted interviews with key informants from USAID/Nigeria, USAID/W, USAID implementing partners, the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), SMOHs and LGA officials from Kano, Zamfara and Katsina states, facility staff and community groups and workers.
Although the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) has successfully trained and deployed more than 34,000 health extension workers (HEWs), the annual attrition rate was approximately 5%.
At FMOH and RHB request, the project provided basic and refresher trainings on core competencies of data quality and information use for health managers, HMIS focal persons, health information technicians, information technology officers, and health workers.
Thirty three participants drawn from FMOH, TVET, HERQA, four professional associations, four Regional Health Bureaus, four universities, and four regional health science colleges participated.
The HMIS Scale-Up Project supported the FMOH’s ongoing commitment to improving health through the Health Sector Transformation Plan’s Information Revolution agenda and was conducted in close collaboration with the FMOH, RHBs, ZHDs, WorHOs, and health facilities.
Lessons from this process include the following: • Alignment and harmonization of the project plan with FMOH and RHBs was a key to success of systems implementation.
The Borrower declares its commitment to the objectives of the Project as set forth in Schedule 2 to this Agreement and, to this end, shall carry out the Project through FMOH with due diligence and efficiency and in conformity with appropriate medical, administrative and financial policies and practices, and shall provide, promptly as needed, the funds, facilities, services and other resources required for the Project.
