Faculty Committee definition

Faculty Committee or “committee” means a committee to be constituted by the faculty of the University which shall consist of not fewer than twelve members of the faculty holding tenured or probationary appointments when elected by the faculty on a basis broadly representative of the various divisions and sub-units of the University, and which is empowered hereby to discharge the functions prescribed for it in this Section 6.   • It is agreed United Faculty may select a United Faculty Committee of no more than eight (8) members to meet with the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration as a "Budget Policy, Allocation and Review Committee." Such meetings shall be called by the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration every two (2) months for the purpose of reviewing budgetary information, receiving input, and consulting with the representatives of the United Faculty; the meeting shall not be for the purpose of negotiations.

  • In the event individuals from outside the department are to be nominated, the Faculty Committee and all voting members of the department shall be provided with comprehensive, relevant information regarding those candidates’ qualifications.

  • The Faculty Committee referred to above shall consist of five (5) members of the involved department elected by the membership of the department, unless the involved department consists of five (5) or fewer members, in which case the Faculty Committee shall consist of all the members of the involved department.

  • If the Faculty Committee disagrees with a positive departmental recommendation, the written communication shall indicate to the candidate at least in which area or areas of performance in relation to the relevant approved unit standards that the committee would expect as evidence of further development before recommending in favour of tenure and/or promotion.

  • If the appeal follows a negative recommendation of the Faculty Committee on Tenure and Promotion, the onus will be on the member to demonstrate that their appeal should be granted.

  • Their claims will be reviewed by the Indigenous Faculty Committee.

  • If the appeal concerns the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and Vice-President, Academic’s decision to reverse a positive recommendation of the Faculty Committee on Tenure and Promotion, the onus will be on the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and Vice-President, Academic to defend their decision.

  • If the appeal follows a negative recommendation of the Faculty Committee on Tenure and Promotion, the onus will be on the member to demonstrate that his/her appeal should be granted.

  • In Faculties without departments, divisions or schools, the Faculty Committee will serve as the Adjudicating Committee.
