Extra shifts definition

Extra shifts known prior to the posting of the schedule will be assigned by seniority within the classification to part-time employees up to but not exceeding regular full-time hours. Where a senior employee is already scheduled to work a shift that is less than 7.5 hours on a day, and the ‘extra shift’ known prior to the posting of the schedule is of greater hours that employee will instead be assigned the shift of greater hours.

Examples of Extra shifts in a sentence

  • Extra shifts will be offered via a posted needs list for a minimum of three (3) days prior to the posting of the final schedule.

  • Extra shifts shall be granted as provided in this Section before using temporary employees of outside employment agencies.

  • Extra shifts shall be offered on a voluntary and equitable basis in rotating seniority order, except that management may elect to offer time to employees who are able to work at straight time pay before offering it to employees who would earn one and one half (1 ½) times their regular rate of pay.

  • Extra shifts will be a topic for review and discussion at each regularly scheduled facility LMC meeting.

  • Extra shifts occurring within 12 hours from the start of the shift (knows as Emergent Needs – 12 hours).

  • Extra shifts shall be granted on a seniority basis first to employees for whom the extra shift would be on a non-overtime basis and then by seniority to employees for whom the extra shift would be overtime.

  • Extra shifts that are not filled at least two (2) days before the shift will be filled pursuant to this Section.

  • Extra shifts will be defined as an opening that exists on a posted schedule, once all employees are scheduled the hours appropriate to their status and all per diem employees are scheduled to fulfill their requirement.

  • Extra shifts will be offered via a posted needs lists in a MultiCare‐approved method for a minimum of three (3) days prior to the posting of the final schedule.

  • Extra shifts resulting in premium pay will only be offered after all opportunities to pay at regular time have been exhausted.
