Equity Deserving Groups definition
Equity Deserving Groups means those that identify barriers to equal access, opportunities, and resources due to the oppression, disadvantage and discrimination and actively seek social justice and reparation; which can include, but is not limited to, First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, people of colour, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQQIA+ (two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual), newcomers, and other communities who are impacted.
Equity Deserving Groups means racialized persons (including Black Canadians), persons living with disabilities (including invisible and episodic disabilities), Canadians who identify as 2SLGBTQI+, and First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples as founding peoples of Canada who are under-represented in positions of economic influence and leadership.
Equity Deserving Groups means communities who have been historically marginalized and excluded from participating in society and face particular and significant barriers due to their intersecting identities, including race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, religion, age, and disability.
