Engineering Tradesman definition
Engineering Tradesman means one of the following broad engineering categories are catered for within the classification definitions, namely: Fabrication/vehicle building and Mechanical engineering.
(i) Fabrication/Vehicle building engineering shall include fabrication, forging, carpentry, plumbing, founding, structural steel erection, electroplating, metal spinning, metal polishing, sheet metal work and the use of related computer controlled equipment. This includes fabrication in all metals, plastics, carbon fibre, composite materials, ceramics and other materials.
(ii) Mechanical engineering includes the design, assembly, manufacture, installation, modification, testing, fault finding, commissioning, maintenance and service of all mechanical equipment, machinery, fluid power systems, automotive mechanics, instruments, refrigeration, and the use of related computer controlled equipment, e.g., Computer Numeric Controlled machine tools.
