Employment First definition

Employment First means a self sufficiency program funded by the Department of Agriculture for food benefit recipients not participating in Colorado Works.
Employment First means a concept to facilitate the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the workplace and community. Under the employment first approach, community based, integrated employment is the first option for employment services for children and adults with disabilities. Employment first includes competitive employment in an integrated setting;
Employment First. A set of core values and policies adopted nationwide to support competitive integrated employment for people with disabilities. With Employment First, employment is the first and preferred outcome for all working-age people with disabilities, including people with complex and significant disabilities. More Definitions of Employment First

Employment First policy means that people with developmental disabilities are presumed capable of community employment. The priorities include the expectation that people with disabilities should have opportunities to pursue competitive, integrated employment, and that community employment must be considered in every person- centered plan.
Employment First means that working in the community should be a choice for everyone, with or without a disability.
Employment First means that for government funded day support for people with a disability employment is the first and preferred outcome. This approach has also been adopted widely in the U.S., in particular in California, Washington, Minnesota, Indiana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Iowa, Rhode Island, and Nevada. These policies have proven to be a singularly important factor in driving the transition from sheltered employment to labour market inclusion.36
Employment First. A national effort, fully supported by Parties in this agreement, that seeks to ensure that individuals and youth of working age with the most significant disabilities consider competitive integrated employment as a preferred service and outcomes in planning for their lives.
