Employability definition

Employability means that the provision of vocational rehabilitation services is likely to enable an individual to obtain or retain employment consistent with his or her capacities and abili- ties in the competitive labor market, the practice of a profession, self−employment, homemaking, farm or family work, sheltered employment, home−based employment or other gainful work.
Employability means demonstration of skills and capacities that enable individuals to employment, get a better employment, get on a pathway to employment, or transition to a different job, and contribute significantly to their workplace/workforce and its productivity and growth. The Core Skills for Work Developmental Framework (CSfW) has been developed by the Australian Government to describe a set of non-technical skills, knowledge and understandings that underpin successful participation in work. Participation in work could be as an employee, as someone who is self-employed, or as a volunteer. Customized employment may include employment developed through job carving, self-employment or entrepreneurial initiatives, or other job development or restructuring strategies that result in job responsibilities being customized and individually negotiated to fit the needs of the individual with a disability. Customized employment assumes the provision of reasonable accommodations and supports necessary for the individual to perform the functions of a job that is individually negotiated and developed.
