Employees who reach an inactive status due to failure to participate in Department provided Continuing Education Unit (CEU) courses will be required to obtain necessary CEU’s within ninety (90) days after reaching inactive status at their own cost.
Employees in positions that require licensures or certifications with Continuing Education Unit (CEU) requirements will be allowed to do so on work time and at the Employer’s expense, based on documentation from the licensure or certification provider.
For every five (5) Continuing Education Unit Credits earned, two hundred and fifty ($250.00) dollars will be paid to the staff member.

All courses that will result in salary advancement (horizontal) must be submitted on a “Unit Petition Form.” Qualifying course work posted on an official transcript as semester unit, quarter unit, Continuing Education Unit (CEU) or Professional Development Unit (PDU) and received in the Human Resource Office by October 1 of the current school year is creditable for column placement or advancement in the current school year.
Ten (10) contact workshop hours will be required for each earned one (1) Continuing Education Unit Credit.
The conference or professional study is job related and qualifies for Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits if the incumbent's position requires certification or if the incumbent is a registered nurse.
