Bargaining unit members arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI) and other similar offenses shall receive an immediate, voluntary, unpaid leave of absence, pursuant to Article 21.
In New York State, you can be arrested for any of these offenses: aggravated driving while intoxicated (Agg- DWI), driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more (.08 BAC), driving while ability impaired by a drug (DWAI-drug), driving while ability impaired by alcohol (DWAI), or driving under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs.
Should an employee who is assigned a County vehicle be convicted of a DWI, DWAI or leaving the scene of an automotive accident, he/she may suffer the loss of the assigned vehicle at the discretion of the County.
