In addition to DPSST Certification pay in Section 18.8, employees who possess the following educational degree from an accredited college or university will receive educational achievement pay based on the highest degree level listed below: Bachelor’s Degree two percent (2%) added to regular base pay Educational degrees may not be compounded.
Examples of such training might be: DPSST Certification or recertification; disaster preparedness; field training; training on dealing with people with emotional challenges; training on working with college students.
The County agrees to pay monthly, the following for DPSST Intermediate and Advanced certifications: Intermediate $150.00 Advanced $200.00 In order to qualify for certification pay pursuant to this Section 5, the employee must obtain the DPSST Certification and have received an overall “effective, meets standards” rating or better on the most recent annual performance appraisal.
If an employee is required to work on any of the holidays listed above, they shall receive, in addition to their holiday pay as outlined in Section 4.3, compensation for all hours worked at the rate of one and one-half times their regular rate of pay, which includes DPSST Certification differential pay, if any.
This section 18.8 shall also apply to the Police Technician, Police Technician Senior and Police Criminalist classifications so long as they meet all of the standards set out for D.P.S.S.T. Certification.
The maximum premium percentage for combined DPSST Certification Pay and Educational Incentive Pay is 12% per month.
The maximum combined pay premiums under Section C – Education and DPSST Certification Pay and under Section D – Premium Pay is twenty-two (22%) of the employee’s base wage.
DPSST Certification incentive pay shall be paid as a dollar amount added to the base pay with $145 per month additional pay for a DPSST Intermediate Certificate.
Due to the ongoing difficulties the County is facing in hiring qualified individuals and the time and resources required to train new Corrections Deputies, it is often beneficial to recruit and hire experienced corrections officers who already possess DPSST Certification.
The County agrees to pay monthly, the following for DPSST Intermediate and Advanced certifications: Intermediate $300.00 Advanced $450.00 In order to qualify for certification pay pursuant to this Section 5, the employee must obtain the DPSST Certification and have received an overall “effective, meets standards” rating or better on the most recent annual performance appraisal.
