Downzoning definition

Downzoning means to reclassify an area or property into a lower, and typically more restrictive, zoning band.   • Zoning means the purpose for which land may lawfully be used or on which buildings may be erected or used, or both, as contained in an applicable town planning scheme and "zoned " has a corresponding meaning.
