Dock Days definition

Dock Days or Leave without Pay are not an authorized leave category but is described here to clarify the difference between approved leave and leave that is not approved. Employees are not allotted “Dock Days” and they do not represent a separate type of leave available to them. Because “Dock Days” are unauthorized, use of them may potentially lead to disciplinary action against an employee, up to and including discharge. Realizing there may be rare extraordinary circumstances which will be dealt with on a case by case situation.

Examples of Dock Days in a sentence

  • Dock Days may be granted by the superintendent after all personal leave days have been used and will result in the loss of salary and benefits for any dock day granted.

  • Dock Days shall not be available unless an employee has exhausted all personal and vacation leave.

  • Dock Days shall be requested in accordance with the procedures and with the timing restrictions for Personal Days set forth in this Agreement, except that in KIOSK the employee shall note under “Other” that the day is “Unpaid”.

  • No reason must be provided by employees who are requesting Dock Days.

  • The Superintendent shall reserve the right to deny the request for Dock Days in the event substitutes are unavailable.

  • Personal Days Sick Days Dock Days : R U N H U ¶ V & R P S H Q V D W L R Q Drivers will receive a daily guarantee of six (6) hours per day work assignment.

  • If additional days are needed for this purpose, a request may be submitted to the Director of Human Resources to use up to three (3) unpaid Dock Days, for a total of up to seven (7) Bereavement Leave Days per occurrence.
