Deemed competency definition

Deemed competency means that those individuals who, prior to January 1, 1989, completed a nurse aide training program that met the State's requirements at the time it was offered, may be determined to have completed a training and competency evaluation program and be certified as competent.

  • Competency means a combination of skills, knowledge and attitude required to perform a task to the prescribed standard.

  • Cultural Competency means the ability to recognize, respect, and address the unique needs, worth, thoughts, communications, actions, customs, beliefs and values that reflect an individual’s racial, ethnic, religious, sexual orientation, and/or social group.

  • Continuing competence means a requirement, as a condition of license renewal, to provide evidence of participation in, and/or completion of, educational and professional activities relevant to practice or area of work.

  • Incompetency means a person lacks the capacity to understand the nature of the proceedings against him or her or to assist in his or her own defense as a result of mental disease or defect.
