Hot Work means work involving electric or gas welding, cutting, brazing, or similar flame or spark-producing operations.
Continuous Shift Work means work done by separate relays of employees where the hours of work are regularly rotated in accordance with a shift roster covering a 24 hour per day operation over a 7 day week.
Contract Work means everything required to be furnished and done by the Contractor by any one or more of the parts of the Contract referred to in Article 1, except Extra Work as hereinafter defined.
Urgent Work means any urgent measures which in the opinion of Engineer-in-charge become necessary during the progress of the work to obviate any risk of accident or failure or disruption of generation which become necessary for security.

WORK OR CONTRACT WORK means and include supply of all categories of labour specified consumables, tools and tackles required for complete and satisfactory site transportation handling, stocking, storing, erecting, testing, and commissioning of the equipments to the entire satisfaction of BHEL.
Substantial improvement means any combination of repairs, reconstruction, rehabilitation, addition, or other improvement of a structure, taking place during any one-year period for which the cost equals or exceeds 50 percent of the market value of the structure before the “start of construction” of the improvement. Actively at Work and "active work" means actually performing on a Full- time basis each and every duty pertaining to your job in the place where and the manner in which the job is normally performed. This includes approved time off such as vacation, jury duty and funeral leave, but does not include time off as a result of injury or illness.
Work means all Services to be performed, goods to be delivered, and any appurtenant actions performed, and items produced, conceived, or developed, including Deliverables.

Permanent Works means the permanent works to be executed (including Plant) in accordance with the Contract.
