Dead Freight definition

Dead Freight means 90% of the quantity by weight of the Department’s declared cargo minus the quantity of cargo shipped by weight including any space available cargo on the date of sailing. Such dead freight is payable by the Department on a weight basis at 80% of the Northbound Rate.
Dead Freight means a charge at the rate specified in Schedule A on the difference between actual volume loaded and minimum volume ordered when actual volume is less than minimum volume ordered.
Dead Freight means the freight payable on the quantity of Iron Ore not loaded up to a Vessel’s Practical Loaded Capacity as determined under Clause 12.8(d).

Examples of Dead Freight in a sentence

  • In the event that the Buyer does wish to so reduce its purchases the Seller will use its reasonable endeavours to mitigate the Dead Freight charges which would be payable by the Buyer to the Seller in respect of any Dead Freight Events during or around the Works period and will also liaise with the Buyer to assist the Seller in reducing Dead Freight.

  • Man will use its commercially reasonable efforts to minimize the total Dead Freight Surcharge payable by Westway.

  • At its election, Hess may order the Provided Vessel to depart the Terminal where it is taking on barrels with less than the originally nominated quantity of barrels for delivery, in which event Hess shall remain responsible for payment of the applicable Dead Freight.
