DB2 (Database-2) means the InternationaI Business Machines (IBM) strategic product for general purpose information storage, including database management. It is a reasonably complete implementation of the relational technology. The most strategic component or aspect of DB2 is the interface Structured Query Language (SQL). DB2 is properly viewed as an SQL engine.
