Davit definition

Davit means a structure that is located on top of the canal wall and is capable of mechanically moving a vessel from the waterway on to the dry lot.
Davit means a device that is used singly or in pairs and that is for suspending a powered platform from work, storage, or rigging locations on the building being serviced. Unlike outriggers, a davit reacts its operating load into a single roof socket or carriage attachment.
