Suspension of the CET to permit importation at reduced or zero duty is by decision of the Council For Trade and Economic Development (COTED) or by the Secretary-General (SG) acting under delegated authority.
A little over one month before the expiration of that suspension, Trinidad and Tobago applied for a further suspension of the CET and the implementation of a tariff of 50% from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021, and this was also approved by COTED.
