Convicted of a crime definition

Convicted of a crime means a final judgment of guilt entered on a misdemeanor or felony charge in any of the criminal courts of the state of New York, as defined in section 10.10 of the criminal procedure law, or any other court of competent jurisdiction in the United States. Persons adjudicated as youthful offenders, pursuant to section 720.10(6) of the Criminal Procedure Law, or juvenile delinquents, pursuant to section 301.2(1) of the Family Court Act, shall not be considered convicted of a crime.
Convicted of a crime means entry of a final judgment on a verdict or a finding of guilty, or a plea of nolo contendere, in a court of competent jurisdiction in a criminal case, regardless of whether an appeal is pending or could be taken. Conviction does NOT include a final judgment that has been expunged by pardon, reversed, set aside, or otherwise rendered invalid.
