Comp Time definition

Comp Time means paid time off granted to an employee in lieu of overtime pay. This is also commonly referred to as Chit within the department.
Comp Time shall be taken at a time approved by the employee’s supervisor or his designate.
Comp Time earned for hours qualifying as “Overtime” under this contract will be calculated at time and one half. An employee will not be allowed to accumulate more than eighty (80) hours of compensatory time. Comp time in excess of eighty (80) hours will be paid in the pay period immediately following the period in which the excess comp time is earned, unless the employee and Department Head (or his/her representative) mutually agree on a time when the excess comp time will be used. In no case will comp time over eighty (80) hours be carried for more than two pay periods. At the Employee’s request up to 40 hours of accrued Comp Time will be paid to the employee on the payroll following the employee’s anniversary date.

  • Unpaid leave shall be authorized only after the exhaustion of all other available paid leaves including Comp Time.

  • Awarding of Comp Time must be mutually agreed upon in writing by both the employee and supervisor prior to the work being performed.

  • Compensatory (Comp) Time will be allowed upon authorization from the administrator in charge and approved by the office of personnel when an employee chooses Comp Time in lieu of pay.

  • All Comp Time for hourly support employees must be clocked in on a time card except in emergency situations.

  • All Comp Time acquired after January 1 must be used by the end of the fiscal year (June 30).

  • Each employee in the DS and SM units who have paid service in Payroll 01 of each year will have an equal number of hours deducted from their eight and one-half (8 ½) hours Floating Holiday time (County Comp Time) in Payroll 02.

  • Comp Time for hourly and salaried support employees must be signed by the administrator/supervisor in charge and used at the administrators/supervisors discretion..

  • If the College is open but the employee is unable to report to work, the employee may use any accrued leave or Comp Time available or receive a corresponding reduction in pay if no accrued time is available.

  • All Comp Time acquired after July 1 must be used by the end of the calendar year.

  • All other paid time including Comp Time used during FMLA leave shall be deducted from the twelve (12) week leave entitlement.


More Definitions of Comp Time

Comp Time. With advanced approval by the principal, teachers will be allowed to substitute for another teacher if there is a need for that teacher to miss school for a maximum of one hour during the school day. Teachers may accumulate up to three (3) hours of comp time each semester, for which they may ask another teacher to substitute for them (with advanced approval by the principal). At the end of each semester, the teacher who has accumulated comp time will be paid $18 per hour for his/her unused comp hours (up to three hours). No comp time will be carried over to the following semester. Comp time should be granted for legitimate uses only.
